Golf, where it isn't usually played

We bring golf into the school hall, then out to the course.

Over 300 young people so far. Forever Together CIC runs six-week golf programmes for young people across the Liverpool City Region — in school halls, sports halls, playgrounds and fields. Every session teaches a life skill alongside the golf, and every programme ends with a route out to a real golf course.

What we do

Golf is a hard sport to start. We remove every reason not to.

Cost, kit, transport, dress code, not knowing anyone who plays — for most families in our area, that's the end of it before it starts. So we bring the sport to where the children already are.

We work in mainstream and SEN schools, community centres and holiday provision, using equipment designed for indoor spaces. No child needs to own a club, and no child is turned away for what they're wearing.

Golf teaches discipline, patience and honesty better than almost any sport we know — you call your own penalties. Each of our six weeks is built around one of those qualities.

The programme

Six weeks, six life skills

Our introduction to golf, delivered in your hall. Secondary schools usually take it as part of the twelve-week Player Development course.

Week
Life skill
On the session
01
Discipline & patience
Grip, stance, posture and the first swings. Progress takes practice, and we say so from day one.
02
Perseverance
Chipping games and friendly competition — learning to win and lose well, and to treat setbacks as part of it.
03
Focus under pressure
Putting drills and low-stakes competitions on indoor mats. Breathe, take your time, stay calm.
04
Teamwork & communication
Relay games and obstacle courses in mixed teams, so quieter children get heard too.
05
Honesty & integrity
Reading and filling in a scorecard, then self-scoring games where the whole thing rests on telling the truth.
06
Celebration & confidence
Inflatable golf dartboard, target challenges, and recognition for every child's progress over the block.
For secondary schools, this runs as a twelve-week Player Development course — six weeks in school, then six weeks on the range with a PGA coach. See below.

Secondary schools

Player Development: twelve weeks, and they leave as golfers

An introduction to golf for secondary-age students, taking a group from a school hall to a real driving range and a real scorecard.

  1. Weeks 1–6 — in schoolFundamentals and life skills, indoors, with all equipment provided.
  2. Weeks 7–12 — on the rangeThe same group moves to Bootle Golf Course and trains with PGA coach Daniel Croft.
  3. Nine holesPlayers finish on a real course, in a real competition, with a scorecard they fill in themselves.
  4. Junior membershipFamilies who want to carry on are pointed to junior membership and our Sunday sessions.

Costed per group. What a school pays depends on group size, year group and whatever funding is in place — some of our work is funded so schools pay nothing at all. Tell us what you have and we'll build it around it.

Safeguarding

What schools ask us first

Both of our coaches are certified community golf instructors and hold enhanced DBS clearance. There are two coaches on every session, and we work to the school's own safeguarding procedures while we're on site.

Risk assessments, insurance certificates and DBS confirmation are available before any booking. We don't photograph children without written consent from a parent or guardian.

  • Certified community golf instructors
  • Enhanced DBS checked
  • Public liability insurance
  • Safeguarding policy and named lead

Funding

What support pays for

We are a not-for-profit. Every pound raised goes back into sessions, and the asset lock means it cannot go anywhere else.

  • Equipment — cut-down clubs, balls, mats, nets and targets built for indoor spaces
  • Kit — a polo shirt for every participant, so dress code never ends a child's involvement
  • Coaching hours — two qualified coaches on every session
  • Facility hire — hall and range time, and the cost of getting groups to the course
  • Free places — funded blocks for schools and groups who cannot pay

We report on numbers reached, schools worked with and progression to the course, and can provide safeguarding policies, insurance and references before any agreement.
